The third Balsall Heath surgery was held at Balsall Heath Forum on Tuesday February 7. It was a really varied session with lots of amendments and improvements made to existing community based websites and blogs and the birth of a brand new blogger!
Martin Field received help with creating and managing pages in Birmingham Social Investment Trust Blog - http://bsitrust.wordpress.com/. Meanwhile Nick Booth helped Titus Dawo to explore audio and visual media for local news and Titus left equipped and enthused to start a blog – so watch this space!
Dan Davies and Hannah Worth worked together to explore how to set up interactive groups on wordpress for the peer and shared learning programme Resident University – http://residentuniversity.net/
Abdullah Rehman introduced Eman Mohammed who is involved in capacity building among resident groups in Balsall Heath. Andrew Brightwell and Eman explored the Balsall Heath Forum Blog http://balsallheathforum.wordpress.com/ to understand how to add content, to add dates of resident meetings and to explore adding photos through twitter. A great varied group especially considering we were competing with Germany vs Spain!
The third Balsall Heath Social Media Surgery will be on Wednesday July 7 at the Balsall Heath Forum in St Paul's Road, Balsall Heath. The surgery will run from 6pm to 7.30pm and any local voluntary, community and resident groups are welcome to come along to the event. There you'll be able to get some friendly, informal advice on how you can use the social web to help the work that your organisation is already doing.
You can sign up for the event here, but if you'd like to find out a bit more about the Social Media Surgeries please follow this link:
