Surgery Managers

This website is a place created by Podnosh for people to publicise, manage and monitor their own social media surgeries.

Your surgery manager is a good person and we don't expect them to do anything besides very social things. If you have a question about a surgery your first port of call is your surgery manager – after all it's their surgery, not ours.

If you have a problem with your surgery manager please contact us.

This website

This website is made by the people at Podnosh in Birmingham, UK.

We care about the "Social Media Surgery Plus" name and logo, the website's look and feel, our software code and scripts, and our social computing techniques and how we apply them to monitoring help given at social media surgeries. All these things are unique to Podnosh and are our property. You can use them only as follows:

You can use this site for free to publicise and manage one social media surgery to support local community groups, voluntary organisations, active citizens or charities.

If you want to use this site to run several surgeries – and monitor the help given and online activity as a result of sites created or assisted with at your surgeries – contact us.

Personal information and privacy

  1. When you sign up, we will store your name and email address. Passwords are encrypted and we do not have access to them.
  2. Your email address will only be shown to the administrators of this website and the surgery manager of any surgery to sign up to attend. We will not share your email address with anyone else.

Social Media Surgeries are completely free advice sessions for people from community and voluntary groups, clubs and societies. In Dudley borough they are hosted by a team of social media enthusiasts.

Would you like to know how to use blogs, video clips, photo sharing sites, Facebook, Twitter or other free web tools to help your group? Do you want to use the web to communicate, campaign or collaborate online? We can help you do it easily and for free.

Come and meet people who understand all about social media and how you can get the most out of it. You might have specific questions that you’d like to ask, or you might just like a general introduction to what’s available. You don’t need any previous knowledge to take part, and there won’t be any lectures. We’ll talk to you one-to-one, listen to what you need and explain things clearly. Perhaps when you have learnt something new you can come back and return the favour.

Social Media Surgeries take place every month or so at different locations around Dudley borough.

  • Lorna Prescott helped Stephen Schwartz to feel much more motivated to try new things on the GP surgery Facebook Page to lighten it up, add lots more pictures, and target younger patients and residents and encourage two way conversation - we want to hear from our patients and would love them to contribute to our Facebook page. Going back with lots of ideas to build on, and cascade to the survey to do. Not banging a drum and waving a big stick, but getting feedback from patients on what they like and what they would like us to be doing. We will look into working with the school on an poster competition and announce the winners online - so they have to visit the Facebook Page. [NB. The surgery run the Facebook Page, Stephen and the PPG want to help] Recorded on Thursday 25 May 2017
